In the school year 2022/2023, around 944,000 teachers were working in Italian public schools. The number progressively raised since 2015, with around 110,000 new teachers hired in seven years. However, this corresponded to an increase in job insecurity, as the share of personnel with temporary contracts steadily raised, reaching one fourth of the total teaching staff in 2023.
