The United States consumed around 1.95 million metric tons of used cooking oils (UCOs) for use in biofuels in road transportation in 2023. Of this amount, around one million metric tons were collected domestically. By comparison, China used only 0.25 million metric tons of UCOs for biofuel blending, but collected around 3.38 million metric tons.
