Foreign companies involved in oil production in Guyana generated around 1.6 billion U.S. dollars in net earnings in 2022. For 2024, repatriated oil income is expected to amount to around 1.55 billion U.S. dollars. Net repatriated earnings reflect the amount of money remitted after taxes. Oil production has increased exponentially in the country, since oil wells were first tapped in 2019. ExxonMobil is a major stakeholder in the country.
