In the fiscal year 2022, the international tourist tax revenue in Japan amounted to around 12.6 billion Japanese yen. The tax was first introduced in January 2019. The tax is a 1,000 yen fee per departure from Japan per tourist, which is included in the ticket prices of cruise lines and airlines.
