As of 2023, the vast majority of Americans were unfamiliar with the concept of the Environmental, Social and Corporate-Governance (ESG) movement regardless of political beliefs. Roughly 40 percent of respondents from each political category were not at all familiar with ESG. An additional 19 percent of republican respondents stated they were "not too familiar" with the concept. This portion of respondents was higher for independents and Democrats, with 23, and 24 percent stating they were "not too familiar" with ESG.
