In 2024, respondents in Mexico were asked to indicate whether they follow one or more nutrition rules, as well as their gender. Around 26 percent of the female respondents indicated that they ate a flexitarian diet, which consists of mostly plant-based foods but allows for meat and fish occasionally, as did 21 percent of the male respondents. Moreover, 22 percent of female respondents said that they follow a low-carb or no carb diet, as did 20 percent of the male respondents. The largest group, both for women and men, was the group that said not to follow any nutrition rules, with 43 percent of all female respondents and 45 percent of all male respondents.
