In the school year 2022/2023, 430,000 Italian students were enrolled at istituto professionale, upper secondary vocational schools that offer practical knowledge and qualified skills on various subjects and professions. Typically, these students access the job market directly after their diploma. Almost 90 percent of undergraduates were attending vocational schools centered on food and hospitality, agriculture, orthodontics, and public health services. Around 12,300 students attended a three-year vocational school.
