Through the use of hydrogen, worldwide green steel production capacity is forecast to reach 40 million metric tons in 2030. This would translate into a hydrogen demand of four million metric tons. By comparison, as of 2023, there were 63 e-methanol (renewable methanol from hydrogen) projects in the pipeline, with an expected production volume of 6.2 million metric tons by 2027.
