According to a study conducted in 2022, Colombia had the highest average price of medicines among seven countries in Latin America, with an average price of 37.7 U.S. dollars. That year, Colombia also had the highest price of medication aimed at chronic diseases, with an average of 43.1 U.S. dollars, compared to the 32.7 U.S. dollars estimated for acute diseases. Within that last category, the price was slightly higher in Mexico.
