The share of the population that cycles in France declines with increasing age. In 2023, only 14 percent of 11 to 13 year-olds did not cycle regularly or occasionally. Among 50 to 64 year-olds, meanwhile, just under half cycled, with only one in five being regular cyclists.

Regular cyclists include people who cycle at least once per week or more often. Occasional cyclists include people who cycle several times per month or less. Non-cyclists include people who never cycle.
Original survey question: How often do you use your bicycle (electric or not) in a personal or professional capacity?
Participants were split evenly between the survey period in June and October.
Participants, who had cycled in the previous seven days were asked about their trips. The data, therefore, represents two typical weeks in June and October.
