Some politicians of the right-wing populist AfD party in Germany are suspected of having accepted money from the Russian regime to promote policies in Russia's interest. In a survey conducted in April 2024, around 80 percent of respondents stated that they found the political proximity of AfD politicians to Russia “not acceptable”. Among the AfD party supporters, however, almost half found the relationship to Russia acceptable.
