As of October 1, 2023, 116,200 Palestinian workers from the West Bank and Gaza received permission to work in Israel. That year, the construction sector was the largest employer, with over 83,000 Palestinian workers. Industry and services was the second most important job category, employing just over 12,000 people. Following the start of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7th, the Israeli government significantly reduced the number of the Palestinians permitted to work in Israel.
