During a January 2024 survey across 17 markets worldwide, over half – or 51 percent – of responding consumers reported discomfort with brands using artificial intelligence (AI) to create a virtual ambassador, instead of a celebrity spokesperson. Around 48 percent of respondents expressed discomfort with AI-reliant product image editing and 47 percent with AI-generated product pictures.
