In Portugal, the number of teleconsultations peaked in 2021, at over 464,400. The increase in the number of video appointments is explained by the COVID-19 pandemic, and it was in public hospitals and public-private partnerships that most consultations took place, namely 83 percent of the total recorded in that year.
