In the first quarter of 2024, the total value of credit card transactions in large businesses in Israel reached over 81.5 billion Israeli shekels (around 21.6 billion U.S. dollars). Similarly, credit card spending in small businesses grew to over 20 billion Israeli shekels (around 5.4 billion U.S. dollars). In the fourth quarter of 2023, following the start of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7th, card payments in the country fell sharply. This was accompanied by a significant decline in consumer confidence.
