Export volume of plastic waste and scrap in India 2010-2023

India's exports of plastic waste and scrap plummeted from 30,000 metric tons in 2010 to just over 2,000 metric tons in 2023. The latter was the lowest export volume recorded in the displayed period. The decline in exports was mainly a result of China's increasing restrictions and bans on plastic waste imports - in 2010, the country accounted for two-thirds of exports from India.
