According to a survey conducted in Thailand in 2023, the northern region was the most popular destination for domestic holidays taken by Thai high-end tourists. Chiang Mai, the largest city in the northern mountainous area of Thailand, is famous for being the center of Thai handicrafts, but also for luxury resorts and wellness hotels. Another popular destination for Thai domestic luxury travel was the southern region.
