Supplementary notes

The United States Government has defined 50 minerals as critical: aluminum, antimony, arsenic, barite, beryllium, bismuth, cerium, cesium, chromium, cobalt, dysprosium, erbium, europium, fluorspar, gadolinium, gallium, germanium, graphite, hafnium, holmium, indium, iridium, lanthanum, lithium, lutetium, magnesium, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, neodymium, nickel, niobium, palladium, platinum, praseodymium, rare earth elements, rhodium, ruthenium, samarium, scandium, tantalum, tellurium, terbium, thulium, tin, titanium, tungsten, vanadium, ytterbium, yttrium, zinc, and zirconium.

Reserve volume figures were not available for the following critical minerals from the source, either because the U.S. does not contain reserves of that mineral or because the data was not available: aluminum, antimony, arsenic, barite, beryllium, cerium, cesium, dysprosium, erbium, europium, fluorspar, gadolinium, germanium, graphite, hafnium, holmium, indium, iridium, lanthanum, lutetium, neodymium, palladium, platinum, rhodium, ruthenium (the source provided platinum group metal reserves as a whole instead), praseodymium, samarium, scandium, terbium, thulium, tungsten, ytterbium, and yttrium.
