Share of global deaths from specific causes attributable to air pollution 2021
Nearly half of all global deaths from Chronic Obtrusive Pulmonary Disease were attributable to air pollution in 2021. Air pollution also accounted for nearly 30 percent of deaths caused by Ischemic Heart Disease and strokes that year. Together, these three causes of death accounted for more than 30 percent of total global deaths in 2020.
