In 2019, it was estimated that a total of around 571 million women worldwide suffered from anemia. Most of these cases were mild or moderate, while almost 20 million were severe. Anemia is a condition in which a person does not have enough healthy red blood cells to effectively carry oxygen throughout the body. There are many different types of anemia including iron deficiency anemia, megaloblastic anemia, and hemolytic anemia.
