In 2022, the largest percentage distribution of immigrants in South Africa were from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, with a share of almost 84 percent. The second-largest group came from other parts of Africa, with around seven percent. Since 2001, there has been a significant decrease in immigrants from the United Kingdom and Europe, dropping from 22.3 percent to just under five percent.
