Annual yield of bajra across India FY 2024, by state
In financial year 2024, Tamil Nadu had the highest annual yield for bajra (pearl millet) in India, with an annual yield of over 2.5 thousand kilograms per hectare. Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh ranked second and third during that time period.
Millets, including bajra, are a group of nutritionally rich, drought-tolerant crops primarily grown in the arid and semi-arid regions of India. Known as 'coarse cereals,' they are used for both food and fodder, making them highly efficient for farming.
