There were approximately 1,080 companies worldwide using internal carbon pricing (ICP) as of 2021. Meanwhile, some 1,600 companies were planning to implement an ICP in the next two years. The number of companies using or planning to use an ICP more than doubled between 2017 and 2021. Setting an internal price on carbon allows companies to assign a monetary value to their greenhouse gas emissions, helping them plan for a low carbon future.
