U.S. top long-range foreign policy goals 2018-2024
In 2018, limiting the power of China was considered a top long-range foreign policy priority among 32 percent of surveyed Americans. However, this figure has increased throughout the last few years, reaching 49 percent in 2024. Taking measures to protect the U.S. from terrorist attacks has been the leading long-range foreign policy goal among nearly two-thirds of Americans since 2018, fluctuating only slightly.
