Since then, the global pickup truck market recorded a slump in its popularity, down to 3.6 million sales in 2022. Sales are forecast to fluctuate slightly through 2028, when they are projected to amount to just under four million.

The Pickup Trucks segment includes mini, mid-size, full-size, and heavy-duty pickup trucks which have an enclosed cabin in the front and an open cargo area in the back. Sales of pickups of all uses (e.g., campers, police vehicles) are included. All key figures shown represent the sales of new pickup trucks in the basic configuration in the respective year. Used vehicles are not taken into account, nor is adapted equipment for the new cars sold. The prices and revenues shown as well as the distribution of connectivity, drive types, autonomy levels, and average CO2 emissions are accordingly based on the basic models.
