UK: most used age verification methods when accessing online pornography 2023

According to a survey of internet users in the United Kingdom (UK), the most encountered age verification method when trying to access pornographic content online was to tick a box or click a button which asks whether the respondents were 18 years or older. Overall, 75 percent of respondents reported having encountered this age verification method before. In comparison, approximately half of respondents reported they entered their date of birth to access adult content online. Entering credit card details and the uploading of identity documents were less used methods, while the uploading of a photo or a face scan for age recognition was used by approximately seven and six percent of respondents.
