Global critical minerals production capacity share risk due to heat & drought 2050
As much as 74 percent of the production capacity of both lithium and cobalt worldwide is forecast in the low emissions scenario to be at either significant, high, or extreme drought risk in 2050. In addition to that, it is also forecast in the same scenario that 16 percent of global lithium production capacity will be exposed to significant, high, or extreme heat stress risk. Global supply chains could stand to be significantly impacted by this risk to the production capacities of these critical minerals.
