A 2024 survey in Hong Kong found that residents who were separated or divorced had the lowest sense of family well-being. In contrast, those who were cohabiting, married, or widowed, surprisingly, reported the highest family life satisfaction, with scores averaging around 6.2 out of 10 points.

As per the source, the evaluation of the Family Wellbeing Index considered six factors: family solidarity, family resources, family health, social connection, social resources, and work-life balance. Social connection and work-life balance accounted for 10 percent each, while the remaining factors each held a weight of 20 percent. Additionally, family solidarity encompassed family time, family atmosphere, family responsibilities, and care and support; whereas family resources comprised family income and psychological capital.
Respondents were asked 26 key questions and had to rate on a 10-point scale from 0 to 10 points.
