The average price of DVDs and Blu-rays has skyrocketed in the United States in March 2024 and reached its peak in April of the same year at 44.06 U.S. dollars. As of February 2024, consumer electronics retailer Best Buy stopped selling DVDs and Blu-rays, leading to physical media becoming even more rarer, and more expensive.
