The government of the United States of America has been steadily increasing their expenditure in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and autonomy since 2018, having reached up from approximately 1.38 billion U.S. dollars to 3.33 billion U.S. dollars by 2023. In 2023, the largest share of this expenditure was directed specifically to machine learning.
