In 2021, nearly one in five Generation Alpha were living in poverty in the United States, with 18 percent of Gen Alpha living in families with incomes below the federal poverty line. In comparison, only 10 percent of Baby Boomers and Generation X were living in poverty in that year.

Definitions of birth year cohorts for each generation may differ depending upon the source. According to this data, Gen Alpha is born 2013 to 2025, Gen Z is born 1997 to 2012, Millennials are born 1981 to 1996, Gen X is born 1965 to 1980, and Baby Boomers are born 1946 to 1964.
