Forecast global metals production capacity share at risk due to heat & drought 2050
In 2050, it is forecast in the low emissions scenario that as much as 62 percent of the production capacity of both iron and bauxite worldwide will be exposed to significant, high, or extreme heat stress risk. In addition to that, it is also forecast in the same scenario that 26 percent of global bauxite production capacity will be exposed to significant, high, or extreme drought risk. Global supply chains could stand to be significantly impacted by this risk to the production capacities of these vital metals.
