Share of parties in national election results in South Africa 2024
In 2024, the national elections held in South Africa resulted in the African National Congress (ANC) receiving just over 40 percent of the total votes. The leading opposition party (Democratic Alliance) followed, with around 22 percent of the votes.
The ANC party lost slightly over 17 percentage points compared to the previous elections held in 2019 and therefore lost its 50 percent majority parliamentary representation for the first time in 30 years.
