The use of telemedicine appointments in healthcare instead of physical appointments has the potential to reduce carbon emissions because of the reduced travelling. According to a study carried out in Spain in 2019, telemedicine could save 3.25 kg of CO2 per appointment. While a study in Michigan in the United States found telemedicine could save 11.2 kg of CO2 per appointment.
