According to a survey of global app users in 2023, 46 percent of global users reported browsing the app stores such as the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store to find new apps to download. Approximately 56 percent of users in South Africa as well as 53 percent of users in Germany reported using the same channel to find new apps to download. Search engines for web searches, such as Google and Bing, were used by approximately four in 10 global respondents, as well as six in 10 respondents in Thailand.
