The Gevra OC Mine, located in Chhattisgarh, was India's largest coal mine in operation in 2023, based on production volume. That year, the mine, which is operated by Coal India Limted, produced roughly 60 million metric tons of coal. India's second-largest coal mine that year was Kusumda OC Mine, which is also located in Chhattisgarh. It had a production volume of some 50 million metric tons.
