According to a survey conducted in September 2023 in France, most respondents believed the democratic regime was the best system possible, and only 35 percent of those surveyed believed other political systems might be as good as democracy. However, since 2014, trust in the democratic system has decreased, indeed in February 2014, 76 percent of French respondents believed that democracy was the best political system.
