Share of preventable premature U.S. injury deaths 2010-22, rural-urban status
In 2022, more than three fifths of premature deaths attributed to unintentional injuries in large central metropolitan areas in the United States were preventable. The share of premature deaths attributed to unintentional injuries in noncore regions that were preventable was even higher, standing at 70 percent.
