As of May 2024, Minecraft had generated approximately 4.7 billion cumulative hours watched across live-streaming platforms Twitch, YouTube, and AfreecaTV. Despite continuous growth in the measured period, the video game saw an accelerated increase in hours watched between the fourth quarter of 2019 and the fourth quarter of 2020, which coincides with the outbreak of the COVID 2019 pandemic.
