In 2020, small to medium-sized business enterprises (SMEs) operating in the wholesale trade industry in Japan generated sales of around 160.3 trillion Japanese yen. Sales generated by SMEs in the manufacturing industry amounted to close to 152 trillion yen in the same year.

Service: companies whose capital does not exceed 50 million JPY, or a company or an individual whose regular workforce does not exceed 100 people. Retail trade: companies whose capital does not exceed 50 million JPY, or a company or an individual whose regular workforce does not exceed 50 people.
