The state of Arkansas saw the highest increase over this period. Naloxone is used to treat opioid overdose by quickly reversing the effects of opioids, and has been seen by many as one effective way to combat the ongoing opioid epidemic in the United States. Naloxone is commonly known as Narcan and since 2023 can be bought as an easy to use nasal spray without a prescription in pharmacies and drug stores across the United States.
