In a 2023 survey conducted across different APAC countries, respondents in Indonesia were most likely to support the implementation of different plastic-related bans in a global treaty. Around 98 percent of the respondents in the country were in favor of a ban on hazardous chemicals in plastic products.

The respondent samples in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand are more urban, more educated and/or more affluent than the general population in each country.
