Negative brand perception due to AI-driven personalization in the U.S. 2024
Online shoppers tend to appreciate personalized shopping experience but a 2024 survey showed that up to one-third of them did not like the idea of sharing personal data. In the United States, 34 percent of shoppers aged 55 to 59 years old and the same percentage of shoppers aged over 65 had a negative perception of brands or retailers using personal data via AI to make recommendation of customize the shopping experience. In turn, only 19 percent of shoppers aged 40 to 44 years old had the same opinion.
