In 2023, the general budget expenditure of the local government of Shenzhen city in China amounted to around 501.2 billion yuan. In contrast, Shenzhen's government revenues reached only 411.28 billion yuan. Shenzhen was one of the first Special Economic Zones established by Deng Xiaoping. Today, it is famous as the home of some Chinese tech giants such as Huawei, DJI and Tencent.
