In 2023, approximately 84 percent of surveyed supporters of the Left Party believed that the planned legalization of controlled cannabis distribution in small amounts was the right decision. In contrast, only 30 percent of CDU/CSU supporters shared this view. Supporters of more conservative parties were generally more likely to oppose the legalization. Overall, about 50 percent of respondents, regardless of party affiliation, agreed with the legalization.
