Exports of copper waste and scrap from the U.S. amounted to 880 thousand metric tons in 2023, a year-over-year decline of 5.5 percent. Despite this drop, the U.S. remained by far the largest exporter of copper scrap worldwide in 2023. Meanwhile, China was the leading destination for U.S. copper scrap exports.
