As of 2023, more than one fifth of Black women in the United States reported to have been treated unfairly or with disrespect in the last three years by a health care provider or staff because of their racial background. Subsequently, Black men were the second most discriminated against group in the healthcare sector, with 13 percent experiencing unfair or disrespectful treatment in the last three years.
