The proportion of U.S. adults fairly or very concerned about air pollution in urban centers is similar among white, Black, and Hispanic Americans, at just under 60 percent. However, the racial gap widens outside urban areas. For example, in rural areas, just 22 percent of white Americans had concerns about air pollution, compared to almost 50 percent for both Black and Hispanic Americans.
