As of August 6, 2024, the global sea surface temperature reached 20.98 degrees Celsius, an increase of 0.76 degrees compared to the 1982-2010 average. Overall, 2024 was a year of record temperatures on land and in the sea, with a temperature anomaly of 1.29 degrees with respect to the 20th century average.
