In 2023, the Italian authorities covering cyber crime have estimated that 40 million euros were embezzled from victims of online financial fraud by means of phishing, smishing, and vishing. This represents an increase of approximately 1.5 million compared to 2022, when victims of online financial fraud cases in Italy lost an estimated sum of 38.5 million euros.
